The Lotus FM Radio Drama, The Palace, by Hamish Kyd starts on June
15, 2020.
Featuring 40 episodes of 15 minutes each,
the drama was produced by Raeesa Mahomed and directed by Caroline Smart.
It takes a look at the devastating effects
that drugs can have on a family. Sam and Samantha are 15 year-old twins whose
father is dealing in drugs. He has made his wife a heroin addict and keeps his
children captive.
The twins escape to Durban and are taken in
by a group of street children and hoboes who turn out to be their saviours. The
drama is filled with action, pathos and comedy.
The
Palace begins on Lotus FM on Monday June 15 and can
be heard at 09h45 and repeated at 20h45. It is based on the Musical Play The Candyman, performed by The Bojangles
Entertainers in 1999 and 2000.
