TAMASHA ON HOPE STREET - ONLINE

Tamasha On Hope Street
is Rajesh Gopie’s latest play. This acclaimed theatre piece was produced and performed at The Market Theatre.

Set in the Indian township of Chatsworth, Durban, the story tells of an unlikely friendship between an Indian street prostitute named Pyal, battling poverty and abuse and a Zimbabwean refugee escaping xenophobic violence, who gets a job working as a night watchman.

It’s hard-hitting in moments, but strangely witty and hilarious, with real and delightful characters brilliantly acted and directed. A real treat for the senses and a gem for the lovers of theatre. Directed by Gopala Davies, it stars Lindani Nkosi, Ameera Patel, Dhaveshan Govender, Keith Joshua Gengadoo, Afzal Sumayya Khan. The play is designed and lit by Wilhelm Disbergen with music by Matthew MacFarlane

It will be the first South African Indian story to be streamed and is available globally online from September 23 to 30, 2020, on www.ticketpro.co.za

Proceeds will assist the Aryan Benevolent Homes (ABH). R100 will give you 30-hour access. You can watch on your tv, laptop, desktop, phone or tablet.
