PRINCE OF THE PIANO

(Ian von Memerty)

Ian von Memerty, the creator of A Handful of Keys, is back behind the piano for a celebration of the best and most brilliant of all the pianists.

Rhumbelow Theatre will present his show Prince of the Piano at two venues:

Pietermaritzburg: November 14 at 14h00 and 19h30 at the Allan Wilson Shellhole, 5 Alan Paton Avenue

Durban: November 17, 18 and 19 at 19h30 at Rhumbelow Theatre in Umbilo

(Both venues open 90 minutes before show for snacks/drinks)

von Memerty pays tribute to the King of Instruments and those geniuses who are the Princes of the Piano. There are the knock-out razzle-dazzle performers like Liberace and Elton John and Freddy Mercury, but there are also the great rockers Billy Joel and Stevie Wonder.

And let’s not forget the princesses from Nina Simone to Adele.

Dazzling virtuoso pianism for the Bohemian Rhapsody Piano Concerto.

Powerhouse vocals for Fats Waller and Fats Domino

Laughter bubbles through the night like an irrepressible spring as von Memerty improvises, invents and ignites with that rare audience communication that has made him “the Oxford Dictionary definition of Show Business”.

“We would ask that - if you are able to - please assist us and the performers by donating a higher ticket price” says Roland Stansell who runs the Rhumbelow Theatres.
