“If you’ve made it this far into 2021, consider yourself a success of the highest order,” says guitarist Guy Buttery. “It’s hopefully now all the better being able to dive into my debut recording with the wondrous Derek Gripper which is now, for the first time, available on my Bandcamp page."
Originally intended for a radio broadcast, then heard as an exclusive premiere on NPR's "New Sounds", Live in Cape Town then later became available for a brief period of 30 days in early 2020 before disappearing again. The live (and largely improvised) album with guitar overlord Derek Gripper finally sees its first proper widespread release this month.
“Listening to it again, I'm rather delighted with what we wrangled and zenned through that Summer eve. Derek dropped loads of heat. We followed each other for over an hour landing ourselves in some pastoral lands, sometimes perching over unknown ledges. It is now officially, officially out. Forever’s!” adds Buttery proudly.
