Extinction and Initially are the names of two productions which will take place tomorrow and Saturday (August 6 and 7, 2021) at the Stable Theatre in Durban.
The dance pieces are presented by Snethemba Khuzwayo (Extension) and Thamang Mdlalose (Initially) and this will mark the first time the two choreographers have worked together, although they have their own production companies and have done a number of shows independently.
Extension is about global issues and climate changes and how these are affecting the dimension of the world’s nature and the threat of extinction in the future. Extension aims to offer a solution.
Initially is about the beginning, the genesis - the importance of grass. The piece maintains that grass is under-rated in its importance and aims to remind audiences that it protects everything - from providing food for animals to creating houses with thatch.
The shows are performed at 11h00 and 13h00. Tickets R80. No mask, no entry.
