6 top films will be screened for the Gay Film Festival at The Durban Rhumbelow Classics Cinema on the Big Screen taking place from June 10 to 12, 2022. The films are: Boy Erased, Brokeback Mountain, De-Lovely, The Birdcage, Rocketman and Love,Simon.

Jared Eamons, the son of a small-town Baptist
pastor, must overcome the fallout after being outed as gay to his parents. His
father and mother struggle to reconcile their love for their son with their
beliefs. Fearing a loss of family, friends and community, Jared is pressured
into attending a conversion therapy programme. While there, Jared comes into
conflict with its leader and begins his journey to finding his own voice and
accepting his true self.

When cowboys Ennis Del Mar (Heath Ledger) and

goes home, Ennis marries his girlfriend Alma (Michelle Williams), Jack longs
for Ennis. They agree to meet again and then feel unable to stop. They can’t
articulate their feelings, only marvel at their own passion and tell their
families they have gone “fishing.” Alma discovers the truth (which she keeps to
herself); horrified and angry, she silently watches him leave every few months
and return with no fish. The men can’t acknowledge their relationship as a

At the staging of a musical production based on
his life story, songwriter Cole Porter (Kevin Kline) begins to reflect on his

and his first meeting with wife and muse Linda Thomas (Ashley Judd). He also
recalls his many extramarital, homosexual dalliances, and the deep depression
and seclusion of his final years.
