Experience the splendid operatic voices of EMZANSI at Jubilee Hall, UKZN (OSCA) on July 23, 2022, at 15h00.
The concert is a collage of Western and African Opera compositions, sung by crème de la-crème of young South African talent. Supported by the Department of Sports Arts and Culture, Imizwilili Yase-Mzansi is produced by Raphael Vilakazi Concert Series.
The chosen music is brilliantly composed by Kwanele Jona, Ludwig Van Beethoven, Qinisela Sibisi, Giuseppe Verdi, Johan Strauss, and Jules Massenet. The project seeks to use operatic music as a vehicle to celebrate South Africa’s cultural and heritage diversity, whilst at the same time promoting and elevating the indigenous languages.
The following singers will appear as soloists at the concert: Asisipho Petu (mezzo soprano), Khulekani Miya (baritone), Khayakazi Madlala (soprano) and Sphiwe Mkhatshwa (tenor). The accompanist is Ilse Myburgh, and the concert is directed by Silindokuhle Zondo.
