Arguably the KZN Midlands’ best-loved music venue, Music in The Hills (MiTH) is an opportunity for beginners, professionals, and passionate music fans to share the joy of music at The Knoll Historic Guest Farm, Hilton. It takes place every second Wednesday.
The next MiTH programme takes place on July 13, 2022, at 18h00
PROGRAMME:
19h00: Bradley de Klerk
A novice in the music industry,
17-year-old Bradley de Klerk is a local musician based in Howick. His
involvement in numerous musical theatre performances as well as a variety of
musical ensembles at Michaelhouse has equipped him with the skills to start
solo performing. De Klerk is mainly self-taught and brings a unique sound to
the songs that he performs.
20h00: Tyran Roy
Tyran Roy is a musician on a mission.
An up-and-coming, guitar-toting, singer-songwriter on the cusp of recording his
debut release. For the past six years, he has cut his teeth at open-mics around
the country, and has honed in on his particular sound. His music dancing on the
fence of the folk and blues worlds, there is a sense of the mystical in his
words and a melancholy to his music, his voice drifting between subtle whispers
and deep raspy tones, the melodies in the songs ringing back to an older time.
Hailing from Durban, it wasn’t until he left home that he began performing on stage, meeting and befriending local folk-music legend David Marks on the South Coast of KZN and diving deeper into what makes a good song. Having been given his first guitar as a young boy by his grandfather, Johnny Roy, and shown his first cowboy chords, Roy has been fascinated by it ever since. Keep an ear to the ground for his debut release, dates to be announced.
21h00: Rob Warren
Rob Warren is a singer songwriter based
in Durban. Over the past few years, Warren and his band mates in the Black
Lapels, have constantly delivered unique and authentic performances, paying
tribute to their musical heroes: CCR, Johnny Cash, Paul Simon and more.
Never one to sit still, 2021 saw Warren officially launching his solo project to add yet another colour to the palate of this well-established artist and performer. He is known as a vulnerable, honest and energetic performer, each show running like a well-oiled machine cranking out solid performances.
