Durban media personality Robin Sewlal has an organisation titled Radiocracy and he is currently calling for contributions.
“Radio is an intimate, charming medium,” he says. “It provides companionship, and powerfully activates one’s imagination. There is real cause for celebration in 2023 - radio broadcasting in South Africa will be turning 100!
“You can be part of this marvellous milestone by sharing your most memorable relationship with radio. Your 750-word story about the benefit/value/friendship that this ‘theatre of the mind’ medium has brought are being sought. You have the freedom and flexibility to choose whatever radio memory is near and dear to you. Get nostalgic and reminisce about radio!”
Memories submitted about the beauty of radio will be considered for a book as part of the celebrations on the century of radio in the country.
