32ND ANNUAL UKZN JAZZ JOL

The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music is proud to present the 32nd annual UKZN Jazz Jol on October 28, 2022.

Proceeds from the event accrue to the Ronnie Madonsela scholarship that supports jazz students at the University. There has been a two-year hiatus since the 31st Jazz Jol in 2019 due to the global pandemic and this year’s event promises to make up for lost time.

The Centre for Jazz organisers say: “2022 has ushered in the return of live concerts to the Jazz Centre, and it has been encouraging and joyous to see the Centre bustling with patrons again.

"There has been lots of great music as well and the musicians obviously used the downtime well, given the level of performance we have enjoyed.

"COVID and lockdowns have ravaged our community and student numbers are also significantly lower than previous years. We are upbeat, though, and optimistic about this rebuilding phase we find ourselves in. We would be delighted if you could join us on Friday and support us in our fundraising-endeavours.”

The concert will feature jazz and popular music staff and students from UKZN Performing Arts. Look out for the UKZN Jazz Ensemble, the UKZN Pop Voice Ensemble, Prof Salim Washington, Sibusiso Mash Mashiloane, Debbie Mari, Thulile Zama, Neil Gonsalves and many more.

Booking is essential. Tickets R100 (R80 pensioners and R50 students).
