AUDITIONS FOR GENDER BASED VIOLENCE PRODUCTION

Deadline: from October 3 to 15, 2022.

The Playhouse Company is holding auditions for a new touring theatre production, dealing with the subject matter of gender-based violence. The Company is looking for three female actors and one male actor.

Actors wishing to audition must be bilingual in English and isiZulu, with strong acting skills, be able to sing, and have movement/physical theatre abilities.

Rehearsals will be from March 20 to April 14, 2023, and the tour is set to run between April 17 and May 12, 2023.

For the first round of auditions, actors are required to submit a self-tape from October 3 to 15, 2022.

Only if successful, call-backs will be in-person auditions. These will take place on November 11 and 12, 2022.

Self-tape should include: a full introduction with name, surname, age and confirm availability for all the above-mentioned dates; a monologue either from an existing South African play or one that is relevant to the subject matter of the play; and a verse and chorus from any song of choice in either English or isiZulu.

Requirements for self-tapes are as follows: please film the video portrait. How you hold the phone/camera or where you place it is totally up to you but must be clearly visible, and the length no longer than two minutes.
