Fabulous, funky, four-piece outfit from Durban, Hawema, whose sound is an amalgamation of local hip hop, house, rock ‘n roll, punk, and jazz, comes to the Rhumbelow Theatre in Umbilo for one performance only on Sunday November 6 at 14h00. (Venue opens 90 minutes before show for snacks/drinks)
Energetic rhythmic changes, in-your-face lyrics, and heart-racing riffs are balanced against groovy dance sections and beautiful jazz chords. Performances are electrifying and chaotic, powered by the DIY attitude championed by Durban’s punk scene in earlier decades. They have an EP recorded and are building momentum towards its release at the end of the year.
