ANTHONY STONIER FOR ST CLEMENTS

(Left: Anthony Stonier)

Pieter Scholtz and friends invite supporters of the regular Mondays @ 6 at St Clements programme to kick back, relax, reminisce (if the mood takes you) and enjoy a singular evening spectacularly fitting for February, month of valentines and love, featuring celebrated artists who likely need no introduction.

Anthony Stonier appears in Quite Frankly… Sinatra on February 6 at 18h00.

Stonier has been a luminary in the KZN and South African theatre industry for more than 30 years in capacities ranging from actor to composer to pianist to playwright to singer.

He won a best supporting actor VITA Award in 1988 for Frank'n'Stein! and again in 1994 for Spring Awakening.

He has also won Durban Theatre awards, twice, for best male vocalist: the first time in 2003 and again in 2007. Many a fan will be delightedly aware that Stonier is synonymous with the hugely popular annual Durban adult pantomimes, in which he starred since the first one in 1996.

Frank Sinatra aka “Ol’ Blue Eyes” was one of the most popular entertainers of the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s and beyond. He is among the world’s best-selling music artists with an estimated 150 million record sales.

From Stonier’s Quite Frankly Sinatra, besides Some Enchanted Evening you can expect immaculately recorded jazz band backing tracks. A selection of requisite show stoppers. And some of Stonier’s personal favourites.

A review note from when Stonier took his Quite Frankly show to the Rhumbelow: “Taking on any of the titans who define what modern music is (Sinatra, Elvis or the Beatles) is not for the faint-hearted and Stonier deserves much credit for creating a show that in turn entertains and delights. He truly did it “his way”.”

The show takes place at 18h00 on February 6, 2023, When the donations box is passed around a minimum of R50 per person is suggested. The plan is to be outdoors, weather obliging.

Booking essential: RSVP ST Clements on 031 202 2511. Bookings limited to diners in support of St Clements restaurant and staff. (They stay open specially for these events.) If you wish to dine after the presentation, place your order before 18h00.
