MUSIC IN THE HILLS (MITH) JANUARY 18 2023

Arguably the KZN Midlands’ best-loved music venue, Music in The Hills (MiTH) is an opportunity for beginners, professionals, and passionate music fans to share the joy of music at The Knoll Historic Guest Farm in Hilton.

19h00: Painting So Severe

The indie psych-rock duo Painting So Severe consists of Seth Hutton and Joshua White who are both from Pietermaritzburg

20-year-old Joshua White has been playing guitar for just over five years and is self-taught. He has picked up a variety of other instruments, and has learnt how to mix the band’s own music.

Seth Hutton, who is also 20 years old, has been singing for most his life and contributes largely to their lyrical song-writing. He also plays trombone, and composes musical pieces in his spare time.

They are both proficient in music theory as they studied it in high school, but that doesn't stop them from breaking the rules in their music!

20h00: TChristian

Pietermaritzburg-born TChristian, formally known as Thanduxolo Christian, had a goal to reach the highest level of education. During his years of education, TChristian focused on music and vocal training. He majored in drumming, getting the opportunity to play for various artists around the world, like Simphiwe Dana, Joyous Celebration, Themba Mkwena, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, and Ayanda Ntanzi, to name a few.

In 2014, TChristian made the transition to performing at various eateries; an environment where he feels music is best appreciated. He is also the proud owner of his own brand, which supplies entertainment for family events, weddings, parties, or any event that might be enhanced by live music to help the soul recharge.

TChristian believes that the skill of being a one-man-band is the most appealing musical enterprise known to man. He brings that alive and creates amazing musical performances, drawing influences from jazz, soul, Afro-beat, fusion music, RnB, and many more. With one album released, and four singles, he has manufactured a sound that delights the ears – the true experience of a live sound with audio technicality.

21h00: The Marshall Music Band

The Marshall Music Midlands Band or “MMMmmm….Band” is a group of talented individuals who do more than provide great service and do excellent repairs; they know how to rock. It’s a common culture for them to have jams in the shop, and this time they’re bringing the jams to the people of MiTH.

Josh White, the youngest of the lot, and an extremely talented multi-instrumentalist, will definitely turn heads as he takes on the drums. Chilled, but deadly Aidan Compton will accompany the band on bass, keeping the vibes nice and steady. On rhythm guitar and backing vocals, is honorary MMMmmm member and MiTH regular, Josh Strydom. Lastly on guitar, bass, vocals and … other, is Skippy Kubheka who will ensure that everyone has a great time, and sings along.

Entrance: R50 - Cash or Zapper at the door

Doors open at 18h00 and the music will kick off at 19h00. Bring your own booze. Food and soft drinks are available for purchase.
