FELABRATION DURBAN LIVE AT CENTRE FOR JAZZ

The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music will present Felabration with Bandless on February 22, 2023, at 17h30.

Catch Bandless, Sibusiso Shabalala on piano and saxophone, Damien Roodt on guitar, Oudskul Omello on drums, Hlubi Vakalisa Jele on Saxophone, Bonga Xulu on bass and prof. Salim Washington on saxophones

Bandless is a comradery, whose members are disciples of baba Fela Anikulapo Kuti, they even consider themselves his spiritual and musical children. After years of listening to and learning baba Fela's music, they felt compelled to perform his music.

Bandless feels that Fela's music is a necessity to society, especially in these precarious times of uncertainty. People need to dance and heal just as baba Fela would, but people also need to be conscientised about what's happening around them, what's been happening and what may possibly happen in future, and baba Fela's music has the right message.

The concert takes place on February 22, 2023, at 17h30 (doors open 17h00) at the Centre for Jazz. Tickets: R100 (R70 pensioners and R40 students). RSVP:  zamat1@ukzn.ac.za

The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music is situated on the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Howard College Campus, Dennis Shepstone Building, level 2

NB: The music starts promptly at 17h30 due to loadshedding
