MAD ABOUT THE BOYS

(Above: Daniel Anderson)

Mad About The Boys, another Wela Kapela Production brings the best of Cole Porter, Ivor Novello and Noel Coward to Rhumbelow Theatre from March 3 to 5, 2023.

Think of a certain suave, urbane style that reigned in theatre and the movies during the ’20s and ’30s. Think of cigarettes, smoking jackets and cocktails. Think of cynical epigrams, and sexy, witty, world-weary songs.

This ode to Ivor Novello, the matinee idol; Noel Coward, the quintessential English gentleman and the American playboy, Cole Porter, is stylish entertainment at its best, a series of vignettes of each of the “Boys” and, of course the songs that made them immortal.

Mad About the Boys is a little funny, a little historical, very musical and exceptionally entertaining. …a blissful hour of enjoyment, laughter, intrigue and song. (Daily Dispatch16 Jul 2021 -Madeleine Chaput)

Direct from the 2022 Grahamstown and Hilton Arts Festivals, the production is written and directed by Amanda Bothma. It stars Daniel Anderson. Musical director/pianist: Germaine Gamiet
