The Westville Theatre Club will present Charley’s Aunt from August 31 to September 16, 2023.

Charley’s Aunt is an hilarious classic evergreen farce set in Oxford during the 1890s. The imminent visit of Charles Wykeham's millionaire aunt from Brazil, Donna Lucia, provides an excuse for Charles and Jack to invite their young ladies to meet the aunt so she can be their chaperone for their marriage proposals.

Alas, a telegram arrives postponing Donna Lucia's visit. Frazzled, they persuade their amiable friend Babbs to impersonate the aunt - and so ensues three acts of utter chaos and hilarity, with Jack’s father and a fortune hunter wooing the bogus aunt. But what happens when the real aunt shows up?

The play is written by Brandon Thomas and co-directed by Jill Sysum and Maya Olsen. Bring your drinks and snacks and enjoy one of the best farces ever written, at the Westville Theatre Club from August 31 to September 16, every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 18h30 for 19h00 and Sunday matinees (September 3 and 10), 14h00 for 14h30.

Tickets R100 (R80 for club members, pensioners, and students)
