A Celebration of New Horizons - Imvunge Entsha

The heartbeat of Africa resonates through the vibrant rhythms and melodies of the 18th Annual African Cultural Calabash festival, presented by the African Music Project at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Howard College on November 17, 2023.

This year's edition promises an exhilarating journey into New Horizons - Imvunge Entsha, inviting audiences to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of African music and culture.

Prepare to be mesmerized as the stage comes alive with performances by acclaimed artists, including the soulful sounds of Lilyfaith, the lyrical maskanda guitarist Matshitshi, the infectious energy of isicathamiya legends Nyuswa Home Boys, the captivating moves of Crocodile Gumboot Dancer, and the powerful ensemble performance by Ikusasa Lethu - UKZN AMD Ensemble.

Howard College Theatre will be transformed into a haven of African rhythms, where every note tells a story and every dance move is a celebration of heritage. The 18th Annual African Cultural Calabash promises an unforgettable experience for music enthusiasts, cultural aficionados, and anyone seeking a taste of the extraordinary.

As the beats fade, the celebration continues with an indulgent feast of traditional African cuisine. Savour the flavours of usu (tripe), inhloko (cow head), samp, amadumbe, succulent beef, flavourful chicken, spinach, butternut and refreshing salads. It's a culinary journey that mirrors the diversity and richness of African culture.
