WHAT DO YOU THINK THE VISUAL ARTS SECTOR LOOKS LIKE TODAY?
In 2010, an assessment of the visual arts in South Africa was released, providing the most comprehensive picture to date. It covered the number of people employed in the visual arts, the average annual income of those working in the field, and the contribution of the visual arts to South Africa's GDP. The assessment also highlighted the location of South Africa's visual arts infrastructure and revealed that artists predominantly gather in cities. Notably, paintings and drawings emerged as highly popular mediums. Watch the 2010 DSAC survey results here: https://youtube.com/shorts/fp4cB2jrfqU
