This Friday, November 8, 2024 (tonight), the world will
celebrate the 10th World Pianist Day - a day dedicated to pianists,
keyboardists, and everyone involved in playing keyboard instruments. This
international celebration aims to recognise their talent and the profound
impact their music has on people.
This year, pianists in Durban will come together in a
concert to celebrate the life of, and pay tribute to
bassist, Philani Ngidi. He was a central figure in the Durban music scene,.
a consummate musician, bandleader, teacher and mentor to many. And a lovely
human being.
Join Neil Gonsalves and fellow pianists, Burton Curtis
Naidoo, Bernard Nelson Nyondo, David Langley, Nhlakanipho Zulu, Ryan Joshua,
Sbonelo Nxumalo, Shemual Mahabeer, Sibusiso Mash Mashiloane, Susan Barry and
Zibusiso Makhathini at the Centre for Jazz and Popular this Friday at 18h00.
All proceeds go to Philani's young family.
This concert will be followed by the pop and Jazz recitals on November 20 at 17h30
