Poetic
Symphony is an innovative and experimental concert integrating Spoken
Word Poetry and Music presented by the Centre for Creative Arts (UKZN) to mark
South Africa’s Human Rights Day and UNESCO’s World Day of Poetry on Friday March
21, 2025.
The 5-concert series will be presented by Poetry Africa in collaboration with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra as an interactive, fun event, creating opportunities for poets and musicians to share the stage and perform individually and collaboratively.
For each concert, a South African composer has been commissioned to write the music for the interactive performance between the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra and Poetry Africa’s celebrated Spoken Word poets.
A concert will comprise two poem renditions (alone), two musical renditions (alone) and one collaborative performance of a newly-composed piece to match the poem.
Tickets are available via WebTickets at R100 (Standard) or R80 (Students & Pensioners) per concert, or save up to 50% for a ticket to all 5 concerts (R250)
Poetic Symphony is made possible with the support of the Mzansi Orchestra and the National Arts Council.
