This brilliant young soprano first sang for Friends of Music while still at school.
Subsequently, she pursued higher education at Tshwane University of Technology, and at the University of Cape Town's South African College of Music, where she completed her Postgraduate Diploma in Music Performance.
Nontobeko has graced various stages, including Ubuntu Opera, The Magic Flute, The Tales of Hoffman Opera, and Dalinda Opera.
She recently received the prestigious Fleur du Cap Theatre Award for Best Opera Performance – Female.
Nontobeko's achievements culminate in her upcoming participation in the prestigious Young Artist Program at Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich. This opportunity marks a significant milestone in her career, solidifying her position as a rising star in the opera world.
The concert will take place on Sunday June 15, 2025, at 14h30 at the Durban Jewish Centre, North Beach.Tickets R140 (R50 for students) available at the door.

With Nontobeko will be Dr Lisa Engelbrecht. Vocal coach/soprano/collaborative pianist, she is the vocal Coach and Repetiteur at OperaUCT.
Apart from her teaching responsibilities, Lisa performs regularly as a vocal accompanist in South Africa and abroad.
She is part of a classical vocal duo “The Opera Angels” with British mezzo soprano, Lindsay Thomson. The duo has performed for Friends of Music in the past.
