Luminis: The Art of Poetry in Music is next on the Mondays @ Six programme at St Clements restaurant in Musgrave, Durban.

Pieter’s* friends invite audiences to ease into the summertime buzz with an evening of terrific music presented by three inspired and inspiring Durban musos. Tiffany Sheppard, Simon Hampton and Daniel Wilson as Luminis will share a playlist comprising mainly their favourite original work. Good sound vibes guaranteed.

(*The late Pieter Scholtz started the Mondays @ Six programmes)

Tiffany Sheppard is a singer, songwriter and poet from Durban. She performed at the Durban Blues Festival for many years with Bobby and the Dynamites. Tiffany loves the soft dulcet tones of folk and jazz but can belt out a blues or rock tune on any given day. She has a CD called Koru on all the platforms, a little book of poetry called the 6 L’s, and a self-discovery book called *Trading Thoughts.

Simon Hampton and Daniel Wilson formed the band The Sound of Ardenne in 2017, having hit upon a great musical chemistry. They are influenced by Dave Matthews, Miles Davis and Pink Floyd and this shows in the songs they create.

Dan plays a five-string electric bass as well as a fretless bass. He has been described as the most melodious and inventive bass player in Durban. His album, Max Roach Park (with Mark Huggett) was nominated for a SAMA best jazz album in 2006. He has recorded with many international and local musicians. Simon plays the lead on an acoustic guitar as well as adding “luxurious” vocals. He played in an electronic band called Rise before teaming up with Dan.

These three musicians unite as Luminis to perform their original works. Tiffany describes their music as, The Art of Poetry in Music. “It’s like painting different canvases as we explore various ways to play music.”

Tiffany will have copies available of 6 L’s and possibly *Trading Thoughts, the self-discovery book she and fellow Durban musician, Gary Gibb, co-authored.

When the donation box is passed around, a minimum of R50 per person is suggested.
