20h00 Danny de Wet

(supported by Skippy Khubeka and Quinton Lotter)

Danny de Wet (eVOID / Petit Cheval / Electric Petals / Wonderboom) is the notorious SA drummer, now known for his best-selling book Sex, Drums and Rock & Roll... in Africa! – an often hilarious unofficial history of South African Rock from the late seventies into the new millennium.

In an Unplugged Storytellers set filled with outrageous stories and crazy songs to match, Danny will be joined by Skippy Khubeka on originals like The Ballad of Louis Carver, and Hairy Armpits Will Never Change The World (written for wild Durban Rock Journalist, Therese Owen), as well as some tunes by Uncle Bob. Danny is such a big Dylan fan that he had a nose job... TO HAVE HIS NOSE MADE BIGGER!!

19h00 - John Manuel

John Manuel is a local singer-songwriter whose self-styled “murder jazz” fuses sharp, sassy lyrics with soulful finger-style grooves. Influenced by jazz, bossa, and South African guitar greats like Steve Newman, Sandile Shange, and Syd Kitchen, his sound also nods to modern acts such as Beatenberg, Elbow, Supergrass, and Half Moon Run. Nominated for a South African Music Award (SAMA) in 2010 for his debut album Lost and Found, Manuel later stepped back to pursue a career as a respected English teacher. Now returning to the stage, he brings with him fresh energy and a collection of new music to share.
