SLEEPING BEAUTY ...AND THAT LITTLE PRICK

12th annual adult panto to open in Durban shortly!

Durban’s fun, festive fabulous 12th annual adult panto is Sleeping Beauty … and that Little Prick which runs for the holiday season in Durban at a brand new venue alongside Beanbag Bohemia in Durban’s Greyville.

“Yes, boys and girls, after many years happily spent sullying the memory of our best loved fairytales, this year’s festive adult pantomime takes us back in time to the beautiful princess who pricked her finger on a spindle and slept for a hundred years until the kiss of her one true love broke the spell. Yeah right…!” observes the press material. “Of course, this being pantomime there’s bound to be more pricks than on your granny’s pin cushion, a fair sprinkling of double entendres, a slew of delicious one-liners and enough knob jokes to hang your hat on.

“This show has it all: a dazzlingly dirty script, saucy sing-a-longs and timeless (well they seem to last forever) songs in a classic tale of true love ands good versus evil.“

The brand new script written and directed by Anthony Stonier, features Anthony Stonier (as the Bad Fairy - Miss Begotten), Rowan Bartlett (as the Good Fairy – Miss Carriage), Peter Court (as Bladder, The Court Jester), Sean De Klerk (as Nobby – The House Elf), and introducing Justine Aboud (as Princess Aurora) and Junaid Cassimjee (as The Prince).

The over-the-top set and costumes are by Peter Court; music selection is by Anthony Stonier and backing tracks are by Tim Pullen of Tim Trax. Equipment and staging are supplied by Black Coffee and Anthony is dressed by Annarosa’s Dress Up.

The Boho is in fact the St Mary’s Hall immediately adjacent to Bean Bag Bohemia in Windermere Road. 3 Phase electricity has been installed so that there can be supersonic air conditioning! The Boho will become a supper theatre venue for the duration of the show, offering tables of eight or 10. Catering is by Beanbag Bohemia. There will be an option of a non-dining ticket. Meal begins at 18h30, with the show at 20h00. Sundays will be a lunch followed by a matinee.

There is a short run at the Hexagon Theatre in Pietermaritzburg from October 22 to 25 before the show moves to The Boho in Durban where it will run from October 28 to December 31.
