Band to perform Irish traditional music at Pietermaritzburg venue on November 18.
On November 18, The Red Door in Pietermaritzburg will host the popular group Celtis described as a traditional acoustic band with something a little different. The opening band will be Nirvirnie.
Celtis developed out of a shared passion for Irish traditional music typified by a combination of reels, jigs and hornpipes, a music tradition that can be traced back to the 17th century. As well as the Irish traditional standards, Celtis also perform Scottish and Breton pieces and more contemporary arrangements. Celtis comprises Anton Cawthorn-Blazeby (violin), Keri Povall (flute, whistle and voice) and Ron Uken (guitar and bodhran).
The cover charge will be R20 More information on the Pietermaritzburg Musicians Club from Roger O’Neill on email: musicpmb@gmail.com or visit www.pmbmusicclub.co.za
