LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS AUDITIONS

KickstArt to hold auditions on January 17 for their first production of 2009.

KickstArt will hold auditions for their first production of the year - the wild and whacky musical, Little Shop of Horrors, on January 17 at the Playhouse Mayville complex in Durban.

KickstArt – KZN’s premier multi award-winning theatre producers – will stage the fabulous funky musical, Little Shop of Horrors, in the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre on UKZN campus from March 20. This will be their first production of the year. Little Shop of Horrors, is composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman’s black-comedy, rock-musical farce about an inadequate nerdy florist shop worker who cultivates a grotesque plant which he discovers is bloodthirsty, forcing him to kill to feed it.

KickstArt is looking to cast three roles for coloured or black women. Successful applicants should be talented and vivacious; aged between 18 and 40 years old; should be able to sing well and dance / move and should be able to speak and sing in English using an American accent.

Interested candidates should book their audition time by phoning Steven on 072 796 4236. Candidates should prepare to perform one Motown / 50’s pop song. They should bring along either a backing track on disc or sheet music for their chosen song. They should also be prepared to dance and wear appropriate clothing and dance heels. Bringing a CV and recent photograph would be an advantage.

The audition will take place from 10h30 until 16h00 on January 17 at the Playhouse’s M2 rehearsal room in Ramsay Rd, Mayville.

Rehearsals for the production commence on February 23.
