MR & MRS PERSONALITY

Aaron McIlroy and Lisa Bobbert to present show at Riverside Hotel Conference Centre.

Stand by for Mr and Mrs Personality featuring husband-and-wife entertainers Aaron McIlroy and Lisa Bobbert. The multi-award-winning duo will appear at Durban’s Riverside Hotel Conference Centre from January 15 to 17 in a special programme celebrating favourite moments from their rich repertoire of stage comedies.

Equally adept as front-rank comediennes, singers, actors and producers, the celebrated Durban based stars have a string of stage block-busters behind them, both individually and jointly, that have earned them a large and devoted following of fans over the past decade and more.

As comediennes, each is hard to surpass. Together, they are devastating. McIlroy is notorious for getting his audiences’ abs aching and tears of mirth rolling. Director Susan Monteregge credits him for “single-handedly transforming theatre into an extreme sport.” Bobbert’s performance skills have set a bench-mark in virtuoso comic exuberance that remains indelibly imprinted in the memory of those fortunate enough to have seen the actress winging it from one calamitously funny high point to the next.

McIlroy’s stage credits include run-away hits such as The Loser, Mr Personality, My Cousin Brother, The Stand-Up, DOF, The Magnificent 7 and The Golfer, among many others. Bobbert’s stage triumphs have been in shows ranging from My Fair Lady (as an unforgettable Eliza Doolittle) to Bobbert Uncut, Chronicles of a Car Guard, Popcorn, Convent Girls, Brutal Tunes and Shirley Valentine, among others. Together, they have appeared in box office block busters such as Abbamaniacs, Sex Bugs and Rock ’n Roll, and the award-winning Defending the Planet, among a host of others.

The couple’s string of awards includes each winning The Mercury Durban Theatre Awards Personality of the Year Award, hence the title of their Riverside show.

With just three performances of Mr & Mrs Personality up for grabs on January 15, 16 and 17, fans are advised to book promptly to avoid disappointment. Book on 031 563 0600, or call George on 084 890 1822. Tickets R195 include a two-course meal. Dinner will be served from 18h00, and the performance starts at 20h00.
