MUSHO MASTERCLASSES & FORUMS

Workshops and forums to be held during the 2009 Musho Festival!

The Musho Festival is to host several masterclasses and forums during the 2009 event.

I am A Woman: (January 10 from 10h00 to 12h00 –Catalina Theatre). Mary Steward will facilitate a workshop for women entitled I am Woman which is a follow-on from her show Womanhood which appears on the Musho Festival, and explores issues of womanhood and identity. Mary has worked as a life coach and trainer and the workshop will be an empowering session allowing women to feel inspired by their own journey in life. Fee for the workshop is R30, which includes tea and cakes.

Physical Theatre: (January 12 from 10h00 to 16h00 – Bat Centre) A master-class workshop will be free for all performing artists which will include a physical theatre morning session with Dorit Weintal from the Dam Company, and an afternoon clowning session with Jamie Latchman from Clowns without Borders. Lunch will be provided. Booking for the workshop is essential. Free admission.

The Changing Paradigm: (January 17 at 16h00 – BAT Centre) This PANSA Panel and Forum addresses the following issues:

- What is the state of the transformational agenda?

- Does the media assist change or perpetuate the status quo?

- Are professional managements driving change or perpetuating the old order?

- Are government structures facilitating change correctly and supporting the industry through the process?

The Musho festival is brought to you by PANSA, with the generous support of the National Arts Council, Africalia, The Bat Centre, The KZN Department of Arts, Culture and Tourism, Tararam (The South Africa-Israel Culture Fund) and The City of Durban.
