PRIME CIRCLE

Premier rock band to give one show at The Barnyard at Gateway on January 23.

The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway has established itself as a hugely popular live-music venue with many of South Africa’s top bands and performers. After sold out shows in June and August last year, Prime Circle, South Africa’s premier rock band, will return to the venue for one show only on January 23. This comes on the back of two nights with Arno Carstens at the venue.

Barnyard audiences can also expect to hear Prime Circle’s hits, including the likes of Hello, My Inspiration, Same Goes For You, Let Me Go, Crazy World, As Long As I Am Here, Maybe Wrong, Live This Life and Miracle. This will be in addition to material off their recently launched third album, All Or Nothing, which includes their first two hit singles Out Of This Place and She Always Gets What She Wants, and sure-fire hits All I Need, Tear It Down and Hey Now.

Part of the appeal of The Barnyard Theatre for live music is that it is an intimate venue with great sound and lighting. It also offers a laid-back environment where patrons are able to enjoy food and drinks before and during the show seated at tables and counters, and can meet the bands in the bar after the show to buy paraphernalia and get autographs.

Prime Circle have gone from a rehearsal room in Witbank, to become one of South Africa’s most popular and talked about bands. To say that they have been a success story since its formation in 2001 is an understatement!

Prime Circle’s debut album, Hello Crazy World, was released through David Gresham Records in 2002 and went on to achieve Platinum status. Their debut single, Hello, started their roller coaster success trip. Not only was Hello adopted by the South African cricket team as their theme song, but it was also instantly recognisable for its use in a popular television and radio advert. This song also stayed in the High 5 @ 5 on 5fm for 21 weeks, and was the most played local song on national radio station, 5fm, in 2002.

Prime Circle became the most active touring outfit on South Africa’s live circuit, performing in every major city and headlining all the major live festivals in the country. On the back of their major success from their debut album, Prime Circle went back into the studio to record their second album. Live this Life was released in September 2005, and within 12 months the album achieved Gold status.

The band consists of Ross Learmonth on vocals and rhythm guitar, Gerhard Venter on drums and backing vocals, Dirk Bisschoff on lead guitar and Marco Gomes on bass guitar.

Tickets R140 and seating will be as for normal shows, with no standing room. Phone The Barnyard Theatre on 031 566 3045 for bookings or e-mail gateway@barnayrdtheatre.co.za for enquiries and further details. For information on the band, visit www.primecircle.co.za
