ELEGANT STRINGS

Mary Rogers has started a petite musical group titled Elegant Strings, her idea being to let people experience the expression of emotion and passion through beautiful music.

“I feel that music is created for people to enjoy, savour and share with friends,” she explains. “It's about stirring up feelings of joy, excitement, romance, passion and maybe even pain and sadness. It’s about dancing, swaying, clapping, stamping your feet or crying out loud …

“The bubbly, passionate personality of our musical genius and director, Ralitza Cherneva is almost tangible in the way that she relates to the audience. Together with her musical ensemble, Ralitza is able to woe even the most shy audiences into another dimension of fun, entertainment and musical enjoyment.”

Originally from Bulgaria Ralitza is an active member of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra. She is also the Musical Director for various other award-winning instrumental ensembles, Baroque2000 and the Blue Velvet String Quartet being her most current involvements.

Mary Rogers’s objective is to bring fine, light classical music into the suburbs, so that people don't have to travel far from home to enjoy an evening of international culture, elegance and flair. She plans to hold these events on an ongoing, monthly basis. Each month will surprise the audience with a different cultural theme, moving through various countries and various moods. She will ensure that any relevant décor, foods, wines and music are joined together to heighten the ambiance and general enjoyment of the experience.
