Fulltime professional performers invited to audition to perform in “Jimbo” at The Playhouse
The Playhouse Company will hold auditions for fulltime professional performers to take part in its forthcoming production of the stage musical Jimbo. The auditions will be held in Rehearsal Room 410, on Wednesday February 11 from 15h00.
A limited number of 16 actor-singers are required for principal, sub-principal and ensemble parts. Aspirant performers must be of professional standard and be able to sing, dance and act. Young performers must be at least 18 years in order to audition for roles. To secure an audition, contact Kipi Skweyiya on 031 369 9463 by 15h00 on February 10.
Jimbo is set in the Durban’s coloured community of the 50s and 60s. First staged to critical and popular acclaim at the Playhouse in 1993 under the direction of Themi Venturas, the musical is set to a book by Hamish Kyd, with music by Siva Devar, and lyrics by Venturas and Kyd.
Presented in the Playhouse Drama between July 15 and August 24, 2009, Jimbo will again be directed by Themi Venturas.
