ANTON BENZON 4TH EXHIBITION AT CROUSE

(Pic: Anton Benzon at Crouse Gallery)

Fourth annual exhibition of paintings by respected South Coast landscape artist and gallery muse.

The fourth annual exhibition of paintings by respected South Coast landscape artist and gallery muse, Anton Benzon, is running at the Anton Benzon @ Crouse Art Gallery KZN.

The gallery celebrates three successful years and the exhibition coincides with the artist’s 65th birthday. Benzon has been honoured by having the Morningside gallery named after him. A huge body of his work has been on show since the gallery opened and this will be his fourth first solo exhibition in this space.

The work of Anton Benzon is identified by distinctive emotive landscapes. Working on canvas in oils using a palette knife, he captures various landscapes, and studies of trees in the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal, in particular. His work boasts an extraordinary sense of light and surprising palette of colours in impressionist-inspired textured paintings. He is interested in the visual relationship and spatial dialogue between the sky above and trees and flora below. The skies in Anton’s work are particularly detailed and moody – sometimes bold and brash, other times tentative and delicate.

This tranquil beautifully-lit gallery space in Morningside – a stone’s throw away from Windermere Centre - showcases excellent works of art by inspirational South African artists. Crouse Artdealers specialises in original SA art.
