ANTON & HA! MAN AT KZNSA GALLERY

Unique one-off collaboration of innovative, spontaneous music at KZNSA on March 8,

On March 8, the KZNSA Gallery will host a unique one-off collaboration of innovative, spontaneous music created by string maestros Ant Cawthorn-Blazeby on violin and Francois the Ha!Man on cello.

These two boundary–breaking acoustic performers have long wanted to create and perform music together, but have had limited opportunities to perform in a dedicated concert together. Finally their respective busy schedules have created the occasion for them to play again!

Francois has been travelling and performing worldwide for a number of years, pushing musical boundaries in an inspirational and spell binding way with a wide variety of styles and expression, from the United States to Eastern Europe, featuring performances with cello, keyboard, voice and dance. His music reflects his Southern African roots, and he is also noted as the composer of Africa – Her time has come.

Anton’s versatility, musical integrity and skill allow him to play across boundaries and genres with a wide variety of other musicians. His particular affinity is with quirky music with a Celtic feel, mostly expressed with Celtis, a project with musicians Ron Uken and Keri Povall. Ant was a founding member of seminal instrumental band Landscape Prayers, which released four critically acclaimed albums and toured extensively during the band’s lifetime.

Ant and Francois’ one-off evening performance on March 8 promises to be a treat for lovers of spontaneous, quirky, innovative music. The KZNSA Gallery is at 166 Bulwer Rd, Glenwood. Cover charge is R65 for the evening, and a full bar will be available. Doors open at 18h00, with music commencing at 19h00.
