NEDBANK ARTS AFFINITIES

Nedbank’s programme supports South African creativity.

Nedbank helps South Africans make a difference to arts, culture and heritage through the Nedbank Arts Affinity programme.

The Nedbank Affinity programmes, started in 1990, is a mutually beneficial marketing programme comprising a suite of banking and insurance products that uniquely enables clients to support causes close to their hearts, at no cost to themselves. Since its inception, the programme has raised over R120 million for various charitable causes and funded over 1,000 projects.

The programmes include four Affinity programmes, namely: the Nedbank Arts Affinity programme, which supports South Africa’s arts and cultural heritage through the Arts & Culture Trust (ACT); the Nedbank Green Affinity programme, which supports conservation and the environment through The Green Trust; the Nedbank Sports Affinity programme, which supports sport development in South Africa through The Sports Trust; and the Nedbank Children’s Affinity programme, which supports needy children in partnership with the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund. When clients use any of the Nedbank Affinity accounts, Nedbank contributes money on their behalf to benefit a cause they care about, at no additional cost to them.

The Nedbank Arts Affinity programme was started in 1994 and comprises a suite of banking products including credit cards, savings accounts and current accounts. When a client uses these banking products, Nedbank makes a donation to the Arts & Culture Trust (ACT) at no cost to the client. The more clients use their Arts Affinity bank accounts, the more Nedbank contributes to ACT and ACT-funded projects.

Donations are made as follows: a percentage of the purchases of all Nedbank Arts Affinity Credit Cards is donated to ACT, at no cost to the client. An initial contribution of R2.50 is made on opening a Nedbank Arts Affinity Savings Account and percentage of the daily credit balance is donated to the ACT, at no cost to the client. When opening a Nedbank Arts Affinity Current Account, clients receive a Nedbank Arts Affinity cheque book and a fixed amount is donated to ACT for every new cheque book ordered; again at no cost to the client!

“Nedbank remains committed to arts and culture development, promotion and preservation within South Africa”, says Tom Boardman, Chief Executive of the Nedbank Group.
