Pietermaritzburg Arts Centre prepares for Art in the Park.

Zulu artists in residence at the Basani African Arts Centre in Pietermaritzburg are preparing for Art in the Park in April and a range of postcards featuring their paintings are available on sale.

There is also a variety traditional African crafts. Zama Cele does traditional beading at Basani and accepts commissioned work. There is new work from the Magwaza potters from Nkandla. Siyabonga Sikhosana on 072 733 5425) and other artists do commissioned work, township scenes, murals, pyrography, portraits, and wirework.

The Basani African Arts Centre is situated at 15 Hyslop Road in Pietermaritzburg and there is plenty of parking. The venue is closed on Mondays. More information on 033 342 3697 or 076 307 5400.
