Hot favourite electronica phenomenon to perform at Suncoast.
The success story behind Cape Towns’ electronica phenomenon Goldfish, has been nothing short of extraordinary. It has been hailed as the ‘re-invention of the DJ’ and voted Best Live Act in South Africa.
It can boast sold-out shows from Ibiza to Tokyo, from Dubai to Cannes and as the opening acts for electronic giants Fatboy Slim, Faithless, Basement Jaxx, Mr Scruff, Paul van Dyk, Pete Tong and Stereo MC’s.
In association with East Coast Radio, Goldfish will perform live at Suncoast Casino & Entertainment World (Suncoast) on May 9.
Known fondly just as the ‘Fishies’ to their legions of loyal fans, Goldfish have hit a nerve on dance floors across the world and found themselves on the brink of a roller-coaster ride that will launch them full throttle into the international spot light.
“We are incredibly proud to be hosting Goldfish on our property,” says Suncoast marketing manager, Eugene Boniface. “They are the ‘hottest musical property’ around at the moment and Suncoast is the perfect place to showcase their incredible talent.”
Opening for Goldfish on May 9 is Jacsharp in their first Durban appearance. Formed in late 2008 Juliet Harding, Ben Peters and Raiven Hansmann forged the group into the finely polished act that audiences across the country have been blown away by.
Their unique approach to dance music has moulded their sound into a blend of live instrumentation, dance grooves and the sultriest of vocals. A dash of jazzy keyboards and funky sax add just the right amount of spice to this hot combo. The first quarter of 2009 has got off to a great start with a debut single burning time in the studio and a video in pre-production, airwaves will soon be buzzing with the hooky brilliance of Sweet Janine, soon to be followed by a five-track EP and a full length album. The band has toured Johannesburg performing alongside Napalma and they recently opened for Goldfish at Spier in Cape Town.
Doors open at 16h00 and the show starts at 17h00.
