Durban Art Gallery hosting annual schools art exhibition.
Since the middle 1990’s, the Durban Art Gallery has been annually hosting the KwaZulu-Natal Schools Art Exhibition.
Art educators are drawing from various sources in their teaching methods and the work presented reflects traditional media such as oil painting, pencil drawing and prints. Animation and computer generated art are of a high standard.
This year the work represents the best of 2009, and is selected from the entire province, urban as well as rural schools. Irrespective of cultural background, the exhibition reflects the setting and society in which the work is made and shows personal connections between the artists themselves and their world. This exhibition is always a highlight and gives young talent a chance to share their work.
The KwaZulu-Natal Schools Art Exhibition opens on May 24 at 18h00 and the opening speaker will be Neith Moore. The exhibition then runs until June 28.
The Durban Art Gallery is situated on the second Floor of the City Hall, Anton Lembede Street (Smit Street), Durban. More information on 031 311 2264, fax 031 311 2273 or email: strettonj@durban.gov.za
