Maya Dance Company to hold annual Belly Dance Showcase.

Maya Dance Company will hold their annual Belly Dance Showcase Once upon a Time in Cairo on May 9 at the Hellenic Hall in Durban North.

May 9 is World Belly Dance Day, so the Maya Dancers will be performing, not just as a studio, but with thousands of belly dancers around the world! World Belly Dance Day's aim is to educate and inform the public about the love and respect this beautiful art form deserves.

The show will give the audience an extensive insight into belly dance and its many different styles, including Saidi, Malaya laf, Wings of Isis, Veil and some modern fusion numbers. Maya Dance Company students from beginner to professional will be performing. Members of the Maya Performance Group who have appeared in the award-winning show Shall We Dance at the Playhouse will perform solos in the show. Senta Seele, principal teacher of Maya Dance Company will perform the famous Dance of the Seven Veils.

Performances on May 9 take place at 14h00 (tickets R50 and R35 for children under 12) and in the evening in a supper theatre format at 19h00. Tickets for the evening show are R120 and include supper. Proceeds from the concert will be donated to Kitten Action. To book, contact Senta on 082 829 3658.
