The Indian Academy of South Africa is presenting a Connoisseurs Evening titled Showers of Music at the Kendra Auditorium (Ground Floor) at 19h00 on May 15, 2009. It brings together the combined talents of India and South African musicians in a programme of songs, music and dance.
The highlight of the evening will be the vocal recital programme featuring India trained top classical singer, R. Surya Prakash. He combines with South Africa’s favourite singer, Shri Kannan Veeramani and together they will render items in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. They have chosen an excellent selection of golden oldies. Many of them are long-term favourites of South African audiences. Dance items are by Divya Kasturi and Selvarani’s Dance Academy.
Music director, Kannan Veeramani puts together these brilliant musicians featuring Ashley Kiston and his troupe of musicians. One of the unique items is Thala Vaadhyam featuring the inclusion of the octapad for the first time in South Africa. Some of the new stars include Dhoshan Naidoo, Kubendran Pillay, Navin Kiston.
