CALLING SINDERS AND BUTTONS!

Auditions for annual festive season adult panto to take place on June 5.

Preparations are underway for the 14th annual festive season adult panto, Sinderella, which comes to the Jubilee Hall in UKZN. All that is needed is a leading lady and her devoted companion!

Auditions for the roles of Sinderella and Buttons will be held on June 5 at 14h00 at the Rhumbelow Theatre in Cunningham Road, Umbilo.

Audition candidates will need to prepare one song to sing which best shows their vocal range and skill, and bring either a pianist or backing tracks to perform. They will also be required to show their acting and dancing skills – to this end, they will be given a scripted excerpt to present and shown a dance routine to follow.

Successful candidates should be available to rehearse from mid-September. The Pietermaritzburg run is at the Hexagon Theatre from October 26, and the Durban run at the Jubilee Hall is from November 3 until December 31.

This will be the third variation of the Sinderella theme to be staged in the panto’s 14 year history. Sinderella was the very first Durban adult panto and also the first production to be staged by producer Sue Clarence when she took over the panto reins in 2002. It has such evergreen appeal that it returns again for this festive season.

Sinderella and Buttons will join seasoned adult panto performers Anthony Stonier, Rowan Bartlett and Thomie Holtzhausen. Junaid Casamejee reprises his role as Prince Charming.

Sinderella moves to its new home this year at the comfortable Jubilee Hall on UKZN campus, which offers safe gated guarded parking, air-conditioned comfort, a cash bar, picnic dining options and the accessibility of being in Durban’s Glenwood.
