RENAISSANCE - RECALLING THE AGE OF ANTIQUITY

SmART's next art exhibition to benefit iThemba Lethu.

The SmART Gallery in Durban North is to host an exhibition titled Renaissance - Recalling The Age of Antiquity.

The term renaissance is just another word for an awakening, antiquity - that of things of old, long past ....that reflect the passion and intensity of that time,” explains gallery owner Vanessa Hurlimann. “Giving the exhibition a theme, in no way hinders creativity - in fact it pushes the envelope somewhat ..... even if it means one theme related piece and a selection of other unrelated; but thought provoking, inspiring works....

“There are over 40 different artists on board - a record number - but not just a number to impress - the artists are talented and respected artists - hard at work to produce their best and of which some are painters- watercolours/oils/mixed - sculptors in bronze, reclaimed metals and clay, photographers, pewter artists...and a poet.”.

Portion of the proceeds of the exhibition will go towards the iThemba Lethu non-profit organisation based in Durban which seeks to impact the lives of children and young people whose futures are threatened by HIV/AIDS.

Renaissance - Recalling The Age of Antiquity.will run from June 25 to 27. Opening times 09h00 to 18h00 (Saturday from 09h00 to 15h00). SmART is situated at 225 Eastview Road, Durban North.
