EMMANUEL CASTIS LIVE IN DURBAN

Well-known actor and singer to perform at Krakatoa on August 9.

Actor and singer Emmanuel Castis is performing live at Krakatoa at Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom on Women’s Day, August 9.

Well-known for his roles in popular television shows such as Isidingo, Erfsondes, Snitch and now Scandal, Emmanuel has also appeared in numerous theatrical music productions during his decade as a professional actor, including The Rocky Horror Show, Grease, Doowah Boys and Let the Good Times Roll. This multi-talented performer also won the reality competition Strictly Come Dancing in March last year.

Performing alongside his hugely talented band, Emmanuel Castis is performing songs from his debut album, South of Nowhere, as well as covers of some of his favourite songs. Making up the band are double bass sensation Graeme Currie, drummer Godfrey Mgcina, lead guitarist Sasha Sonnbichler, and Connie Bentlage on keyboard and saxophone.

Produced by Neill Solomon and Peter Pearlson, South of Nowhere was released in October last year, and is adult contemporary / light jazz, featuring songs by Emmanuel, Cindy Alter, Ed Jordan, Nathan Waywell, Lionel Bastos and Jim Neversink. Drawing inspiration from legendary crooners Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole, along with the likes of Michael Buble, Harry Conick Jnr and blues guitarist Dan Patlansky, South of Nowhere has been described as “Amy Winehouse meets John Mayer”.

Opening for Emmanuel Castis is contemporary acoustic pop artist, Ian Henderson. Having released his second album, Superglue, late last year, Henderson plays soulful deeply personal songs with catchy melodies.
Doors open at 18h30 on Women’s Day (August 9) at Krakatoa with Ian Henderson playing from 19h30 followed by Emmanuel Castis at 20h00. Tickets R70 available through Computicket on 083 915 8000 or at the door.
