Friends of Music is to host a lieder recital on September 8 featuring soprano Evgenia Grekova accompanied by Irina Puryshinskaja on the piano.
Often described as the “vocal wonder of the evening”, Evgenia Grekova received raved notices for her performances. Garmisch-Partenkirchner Tagesblatt stated that her voice is full of discipline lightness, strength, balance resonance and dynamic span. She was awarded two first prizes in Passau in Germany and Alcamo in Sicily at competitions at Mozart and Belcanto.
Irina Puryshinskaja is a Professor of music at the Landeskonservatorium Feldkirch in Austria. Their program includes works by Schubert, Bernstein and Rachmaninov and Strauss.
The Prelude Player for the evening will be violinist Yea Kyung Kim performing Gluck’s Melodie and Schubert’s The Bee.
The recital will take place at the Durban Jewish Centre, 44 Old Fort Road, Durban, on September 8 at 19h45. Tickets R70 (R60 FOM members and R20 students/orchestral members). There is safe parking. Book at Computicket.
