Direct from The Witness Hilton Arts Festival to the Rhumbelow Theatre in Umbilo, Kicking it country invites audiences to join Darren King, Marion Loudon and Janna Ramos-Violante on a journey to pay tribute to some of the legends of Country music such as America, Shelley West and the Eagles, to backing tracks, mouth organ, comb & paper and tambourine.
This is a fast paced look at all things country, from Dolly Parton and Sheryl Crowe to Leanne Rimes and Creedence Clearwater Revival. The cast pay tribute to the best of Country Music including artists such as Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Glen Campbell, Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline and Tammy Wynette. With great costumes complete with tassels, fringing and Stetsons, slick ho-down choreography and fun lines, this combination of great music, great voices and big personalities promise a fun evening’s entertainment.
Shows take place from October 16 to 18 and again from October 23 to 25 with Friday and Saturday performances at 20h00 and Sunday performances at 18h30. There will be an extra Sunday performance on October 25 at 14h00.
The venue opens 90 minutes before show for picnic dinner. Tickets R80. Take along food picnic baskets and braais will be available. There is limited secure parking and booking is essential. A cash bar is available (no alcohol may be brought on to the premises). Rhumbelow Theatre is situated in Cunningham Avenue off Bartle Road.
