All-night party to take place at Suncoast Casino on November 7.
Lovers of Afrikaans music hits are in for a treat when the all-night party, Huisgenoot Somerjol, takes centre stage at Suncoast Casino & Entertainment World on November 7, 2009, featuring some of the country’s most popular Afrikaans music acts.
The line-up includes Kurt Darren, one of the most successful male artists in South Africa, best known for his songs Meisie Meisie and Loslappie as well as Snotkop, the punk rocker formerly known as kwaito singer Lekgoa. Extremely talented, rebellious, outspoken, daring, he is considered the new voice of the young Afrikaans generation.
Appearing alongside Graeme Watkins, Idols top 10 finalist in 2008, will be Andriette (Idols 2007 runner up), tagged by Randall Abrahams as the best Idols participant ever in the South African competition. Also on the line-up are Sarah Theron, who played Baby Botha in Egoli and boasts a warm voice able to switch from rock to jazz and blues or gospel.
There’s also Arno Jordaan, who gained popularity in the Kyknet Zing reality music competition and has produced four popular albums to date; Pieter Koen, a crowd favourite with sing-alongs including Amper ’n Bloubul for the Blue Bulls rugby album, As Jy Horings Dra, Who Let The Boks Out? and Who Left The Boks Out?, and Ghapi who is currently the only “front man singing drummer” who tours South Africa with his live band.
