THE DUKES AT CHRISTMAS

(Pic: Dee Sharma in Christmas gear!)

The Dukes Comb(o)ine Xmas partying with affordability.

The Dukes Combo, Durban's ever popular and longest-running dance band, has come up with a novel way for small companies battling the recession to still offer their employees and customers a year-end bash with value for money. Instead of paying exorbitant rates for food and drinks at restaurants, and most times without any entertainment, the Dukes Combo will host a pre-Xmas dance at the DLI Hall in Marriott Road, Greyville, Durban, on December 12 at 19h00.

Corporate clients as well as individual patrons will be provided with a spacious venue, strict security, décor, lights, tables and chairs to seat in groups of 10. There will be entertainment with a DJ and the evergreen music of the Dukes Combo.

Patrons have the option of taking their own food and drinks or pre-arranging for any caterer or take-away outlet to deliver food to the venue. The recommended venue caterer is Harish Maharaj of Maharajas Caterers (031 577 6200/ 084 466 0510).

Dukes Combo founder and saxophonist Dee Sharma, said the recession was a reality and many companies were cutting back on costs such as year-end office parties. “Hence we decided to offer a party atmosphere at a safe venue with good music. By bringing their own food and drinks, small companies can still have an unforgettable year-end party without incurring major expenses.”

The Dukes Combo is extremely popular across the board with a loyal following as their vast repertoire caters for every age group. However, their roots lie firmly in dance music and it is in this vein that they will portray old standards as well as current chart-influenced songs.
