Umvithi Youth Development Consultants invites all young people, schools, groups and individuals, from UMgungundlovu district Municipality to participate at the events of the Umgungundlovu Choir Festival
The Umgungundlovu choir festival is a “network of voices” and one of the flagship projects within UMgungundlovu District. This initiative involves all youth in the seven local municipalities across the District, in building the Umgungundlovu Choral team. The idea is to increase awareness of the National Anthem at schools and in the communities.
As the 2010 World Cup soccer season will see the National Anthem sung all over the country, the process is designed to teach youth and get them to know and sing the national Anthem correctly and in a strong musical format as well as to identify the best choirs at a final gala event. is the year of glory. Umvithi has designed the UMgungundlovu Choir Festival to bring about this awareness at local rural, urban and disadvantaged communities.
The following festivals take place on the dates stated: uMngeni Choir Festival (April 13); Mpofana Choir Festival (April 14) ;UMshwathi Choir festival (April 15); Impendle Choir Festival (April 16); Richmond Choir Festival (April 21); Mkhambathini Choir Festival (April 22), and Msunduzi Choir Festival (April 23).
