Popular vocalist showcases new material at Barnyard Theatre on May 24.
One of South Africa’s most revered vocalists, Arno Carstens, is back home from London for a quick tour to support the release of his UK debut album, Wonderful Wild. This will see him showcasing new material never before performed in South Africa in one show only at The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway on May 24.
Arno has enjoyed sold-out unplugged shows at the popular live music venue over the last few years, but this time he will be rocking The Barnyard with the support of a full band. This will be made up of Kevin Leicher (lead guitar), Warren Leicher (bass), Arnaud van Vliet (guitar), Jerome Reynard (drums) and Brendan Jury (keys and strings).
Arno Carstens' UK debut album, Wonderful Wild, was written, recorded and mixed in London and Spain, and was produced by legendary British producer Youth (The Verve’s Urban Hymns) and Jim Duguid (Paulo Nutini’s These Streets). Final mix on the album is by Tim Bran (The Verve’s recent UK#1 album).
Barnyard audiences will hear Arno’s recent hits, including the first single Dreamer, the recently-released Emergency, the current UK single and forthcoming SA hit Heartbreak Monday (penned by Paolo Nutini). With the show being only weeks away from the World Cup kick-off, Arno will also perform his hit Feel It which has recently been remixed with fellow musician Brendan Jury for the event. Arno’s long list of solo hits which audiences can expect to hear a selection of include Anther Universe, Boy, Hole Heart, Bad City and We Are Satellites.
Tickets R150 pp and seating will be as for normal shows, with no standing room. Phone The Barnyard Theatre on 031 566 3045 for bookings or e-mail gateway@barnayrdtheatre.co.za for enquiries and further details. More information on Arno can be found on his website www.arnocarstens.com.
