DHS to present romp into nostalgia.
The Music Department of Durban High School will present a romp into nostalgia and “Beatle mania” when it stages Magical Mystery Tour, a show featuring only Beatles songs - bringing back fond memories of the days when the “Fab Four” -John, Paul, George and Ringo - ruled the pop world!
After the enormous success of the film Across the Universe, many young musicians and followers of music have been introduced to - and have learned to love - the music of the Beatles, so the show will suit young and old alike.
Magical Mystery Tour will involve nearly 30 DHS musicians and singers, making up a variety of vocalists and instrumentalists - from violin to piano, mandolin to flute, and an array of guitars and drums. It will also feature some of the best-known Beatles songs. It promises to be a colourful, foot-tapping and sing-along show.
“There is no doubt that ticket sales will be brisk. Snooze and you’ll lose,” say the organisers. “It is fitting that this tribute show should happen at this time because, 40 years ago in April 1970, Paul McCarthy announced to the shocked world that the Beatles had split up.”
Magical Mystery Tour runs from May 3 to 7 at 19h00 in DHS’s Seabrooke’s Theatre. Tickets R40, with the exception of the Benefit Show on May 5 for DHS teacher Brian Green, who has been in hospital for the past three months. Tickets for this show will be R100.
Bookings can be made by contacting Mrs Karen Krause on 031-277 1500.
